CELEBRATE WOMEN IN POLITICS!

Supporting Women is what MWPC does. But more importantly we celebrate and recognize the women we support. Join Mendocino Women’s Political Coalition (MWCP) on July 18, at the Grace Hudson – Sun House Museum from 12-4 pm to celebrate Carre Brown! MWCP is excited to share all the work of Carre Brown over the past years and thank her.

Carre is the fifth generation of her family to live, work and raise a family in Mendocino County. She was born and raised in Ukiah, and has lived on her husband’s family ranch in Potter Valley for the last 45 years.  In both her personal and professional life she has worked on behalf of children, farmers, women, public heath, the elderly and quality public education within the County. She has also been a leading advocate on the County’s water, natural resources and environmental issues. For 22 years of her professional career she was the executive administrator of the Mendocino County Farm Bureau. Previous to working for the agricultural organization, she spent over a decade in banking and was an at-home mother with three small children.

In 2008, she was elected to the office of Mendocino County First District Supervisor and began serving in January 2009. She was re-elected for two more terms and left office after 12 years of public service to retire.

It has been quite a journey. She compared it to a roller coaster ride and had to hang on tight through one disaster after another. Yes, there were many times she screamed because it was frightening but disallowed herself to weaken.

            For all twelve years Carre has been our County’s representative to the California State Association of Counties (CSAC) serving on the Board of Directors. Carre was surprised to receive the California State Association of Counties prestigious 2020 Circle of Service Award for her work and service. It was a very special ending for her years of service to be recognized by colleagues throughout the State. Come join us to celebrate and recognize our own Carre Brown!
